One of the world's leading global suppliers of high-performance plastic compounds and powders A. Schulman is demonstrating the power of collaboration with NATPET at ArabPlast 2017.
Together, they will demonstrate their NATPET Schulman Specialty Plastic Compounds (NSSPC) venture based in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, which is set to begin production in summer 2017 at a new facility for Polyfort and Polyflam PP compounds.
"The joint venture will enable A. Schulman to supply customers with standard and fit-for-purpose polypropylene compounds," said Heinrich Lingnau, Vice-President and General Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa. "It will serve the markets in Europe, Turkey and Asia and directly handle the growing local demand for automotive, durable goods, building and constructions and electrical and electronics applications in the Middle East and Africa region and India."
A. Schulman and NATPET have built the polyolefin compounding plant based on the latest state-of-the-art technology, safety regulations and certification standards. The production is designed for an annual polypropylene compounding capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes and is located on NATPET’s polypropylene polymerisation site. This setup ensures efficiency along the entire value chain, from propane gas to customer-specific Polyfort and Polyflam compounds. The portfolio includes coloured, mineral-filled, glass-fiber-reinforced, hybrid filled PP Homo and PP copolymer compounds as well as impact modified low emission grades for the automotive interiors and flame-retardant V2, V0 GWFI- and 5VA UL listings.
"It is part of our company strategy to reinforce our presence in growing regions. The recent opening of our plant in China, our strategic partnership with Snetor Chimie in Africa and the upcoming opening of our new plant in Turkey underline this approach," added Lingnau. "It was a clear gap for us to not have a production plant in the Arabic countries, and we are delighted that this project will come to life in a couple of weeks."
