Germany-based provider of packaging machines Oystar has delivered its eleventh packaging line to Almari, the leading dairy produce manufacturer in Saudi Arabia. The line has an output of 30,000 cups per hour and is the world’s fastest continuously working filling machine for yogurt and dessert pots.

The new machine will fill inoculated yogurt milk and transport it for sealing without spilling. In addition, recontamination through ambient air is prevented by sterile excess air pressure in the entire filling area up to the sealing station. The final product is a semi-solid yogurt—a typical product of the Arab peninsula, where stirred yogurt (fruit yogurt) is hardly manufactured at all.

Executives at Oystar have enjoying a strong relationship with Almeri for eight years. There is healthy demand for Oystar’s machinery because sales of fresh food products, especially those made from cow’s milk, are on the increase in the country. Indeed, some estimates show that the market for fresh dairy produce in Saudi Arabia is growing at approximately 4.5% a year.

Almari supplies appoximately 50% of fresh dairy produce in Saudi Arabia. The company owes a large part of its success to the fact it operates fully automated and air-conditioned stables and has modern hygienic production facilities—which helps encourage healthy happy cows to produce lots of fresh milk.
