German and Austrian extrusion equipment companies Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik and Cincinnati Extrusion are being combined as a single entity under the brand of Battenfeld-Cincinnati. The Chinese operation of B+C Extrusion Systems (Foshan) is also being integrated.
The companies, once part of the German SMS steel group, were bought by European private equity firm Triton in 2007. In 2008 Triton combined them under a single management headed by former Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik chief Wolfgang Studener. He left the company in July last year after 30 years.
The new structure divides the companies’ operations not by brand, as before, but by application. Battenfeld-Cincinnati has been re-aligned in three operating divisions, Construction, Infrastructure and Packaging.
The Construction division, headed by Rainer Kottmeier, will service customers making products such as profiles, PVC sheet, and WPC decking, fencing and siding. The Infrastructure division under Walter Häder will be involved with pipes for the transport and distribution of water, gas and telecommunication data.
The Packaging division will be run by Dr Henning Stieglitz. As well as extrusion processes for the packaging industry, such as thermoforming film, the Packaging division will handle the company’s PVC compounding equipment.
Battenfeld-Cincinnati says that, together with the remaining member of Triton’s extrusion equipment operation, American Maplan Corporation, it is the largest global supplier of extrusion lines for the production of pipes, profiles, film and sheet, with five manufacturing plants on three continents.
